Welcome
to the future home of the Oregon Museum of Contemporary Art
(OMOCA). Our charter is simple: to establish a regional center of
gravity for ground breaking artists and their work. From this
center we will:
Provide a physical setting within the community where new works can be viewed or experienced
Act as a leader in the arts community through direct participation, education and financial outreach
Align existing resources wherever possible to strengthen the artistic fabric of the region, not divide it or foster competing factions
Create a sustainable and balanced organizational structure that ensures the continuance of its mission, not just focused on the politics of the organization itself
Courageously champion work that does not have a place in traditional venues
Serve as a beacon for future generations of artists and patrons
Work as an advocate for artists, ensuring proper compensation and remuneration
We will not compromise our commitment to progressive artistic representation, nor will we express bias against traditional artistic institutions.
We are not in competition with any other organization.
We see the entire art community as exactly that – a community that can change the world if united but will languish if divided.
We believe Portland, Oregon will become a major destination for patrons and artists seeking creative fulfillment.
We believe the time is now. There's not a moment to waste!
